Golden Village

Historic Fishing Village of Steveston

In southwest Richmond, journey back in time in picturesque Steveston Village. Fresh seafood, quaint gift shops, historic sites, and whale-watching tours are among the highlights.

Steveston is home to Canada’s largest active fishing fleet with 600 boats . You can devour salmon and scallops at Steveston’s wharfside restaurants – or buy fresh fish right off the docks. Chat with “Fisherman Frank” Keitsch, who’ll show his wooden fishing boat, tell you all about sustainable harvesting practices, and ship his spotted prawns wherever you desire.

Visit National Historic Sites like the Gulf of Georgia Cannery and Britannia Shipyards, which once made Steveston the “salmon capital of the world.”

Want more action? Tour Pacific waters aboard a Zodiac boat to view Orcas, whales and sea lions. Bike the waterfront, or fly kites at Garry Point Park. Or shop at local boutiques for toys and fashions.

Richmond City Centre/Brighouse

Richmond City Centre is easy to access by car or the Canada Line train (Richmond-Brighouse Station). Bring your athletic wear, shopping bags, and overnight suitcase.

Explore the boglands and bird-watching at Richmond Nature Park, or check out the city museum and art gallery in central Minoru Park. Work out at the cutting-edge fitness facilities at the Richmond Olympic Oval, next to the Fraser River.

Terra Nova

Terra Nova is a must-visit for nature lovers. This Richmond neighbourhood features some extraordinary views of the Pacific Ocean, Fraser River, and the North Shore Mountains.

Enjoy bird-watching at the estuary at Terra Nova Park, situated at the northwest corner of Lulu Island at the end of River Road. You may spot some of the 1.4 million birds – eagles, herons, and gulls – that migrate through Richmond each year on the Pacific Flyway. Try the observation platform, or snack at the picnic tables while you relax.

Check out the marshland and watch for wildlife while you wander along the West Dyke Trail. The vegetable garden and apple orchard in the Sharing Farm project at the Terra Nova Rural Park also make up a nice chill-out spot. YVR Airport

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is Richmond’s gateway to the world. But there’s more than just arrivals and departures happening here.
